Morestone Miniatures or "Esso Petrol Pump" series 9-12

Number 9 was the Maudslay Horsebox which had a one piece body casting painted in red and fitted with a seperate baseplate which was painted gloss or matt black which included the model details on the underneath. The grille was trimmed with silver and the lettering on the side which read "Horsebox Service" was highlighted with white paint.

The wheels were small but very wide die cast metal which were mounted on axles with crimped ends. It was made from 1956-58

Number 10 was the GPO Telephone (line) repair van, It was probably based on a Karrier Bantam, It was painted dark green all over including the baseplate which had the model details embossed on the underneath. It had silver trim to the grille, rear number plate and to some of the window frames.

The wheels were die cast metal on axles with crimped ends. Although it was a very odd looking model it must have been popular as it is quite common. It was made from 1956-58

Number 11 was the Royal Mail van, This was based on a Morris Commercial which of course was painted post box red, It had "Royal Mail" embossed on the sides but only the grille & front bumper was highlighted with silver trim. The holes in the doors were for studs on the baseplate to lock into to hold it together.

The wheels were grey metal on crimped axles to begin with but later black plastic wheels were fitted to axles with rounded ends. This one is very common. It was made from 1957-65

Number 12 was the Volkswagen Microbus. This had a one piece body casting painted in light brown, light blue or metallic blue with a seperate die cast baseplate which can be matt or gloss black. It had silver trim to the bumpers, headlights and to the VW badge on the front.

The wheels were grey metal on crimped axles to begin with but later plastic wheels on axles with rounded ends were fitted, It is quite common and stayed in the range for many years although being a VW has kept the value up a little. It was made from 1957-70
