Charbens Miniatures Series or "Old Crocks" 9-12

Ninth in the range was the 1903 Standard 6hp which was a two piece casting consisting of the body and a seperately cast folding type roof, The body was usually painted maroon but other colours may exist and the light brown roof was fitted over the rear seats.

The steering wheel was a seperate casting which was the only piece to feature gold trim because this model had no headlights and it did not have a grille to trim either. The wheels were yellow painted metal or yellow plastic.

Number ten in the line up was the 1902 Wolseley, This was a one piece body casting which is usually painted pale blue, It had a steering wheel and headlights fitted and tinplate mudguards in black or chrome plated finish was fixed to the underneath of the body by rivets.

Hand painted gold trim was applied to the headlights, steering wheel and to the radiator grille, The wheels can be red or yellow metal or on the later issues red or yellow plastic.

Number eleven was the 1908 Packard Runabout, It had a pale green body with red painted seats, Seperately cast headlights and steering wheel which have the usual gold trim, The wheels were solid metal with spokes embossed on them or they could have the usual spoked type wheel fitted.

The mudguards can be chrome plated or painted black and are attached to the body by a die cast chassis which fitted below the mudguard and carried the axles. This was a much better way of attaching the mudguards because quite often the heads of the mudguard securing rivets would break off so the mudguards would drop down and sit on top of the wheels.
