PLEASE NOTE: I will no longer be altering the variation codes. All new discoveries will be inserted in to their correct place in the timeline and given a suffix.
So a new variation that would be nearest to variation 4 would become the new 4a, etc.

Moko Lesney Matchbox 59c Ford Galaxie Fire chief car

In 1966 the Lesney model of the Ford Galaxie became the second fire chief car in the Matchbox 1-75 series replacing the earlier 1963 Ford Fairlane model, Like the earlier issue it was based on the current police car which was the 55c Galaxie recoloured to red and enhanced with fire chief decals.
The red was a darker shade but became lighter towards the end of its run.
The baseplate was a silver plated metal and it incorporated the front & rear bumpers and the grille & headlights so that silver trim was not needed, the baseplate was attached by two round rivets one at the front and one at the rear and it concealed the plastic leaf spring that gave suspension to the wheels,
The interior was ivory plastic and it included a driver and the windows were clear plastic which also held the roof light in place.

It was originally fitted with decals from the previous fire chief car but labels were also used and eventually the decals were dropped in favour of labels. A mixture of decals and labels quite common.
The wheels were always 10 x 36 black plastic and were mounted on dome head axles with rounded ends.
The roof light was usually blue but an early run with red roof light is known, the red light variation is quite rare.
To avoid models being issued with the wrong baseplate like the previous fire chief was the baseplate was marked 'No 55/59' so it could be fitted to this model or the 55c Galaxie poilce car but later the idea was revised and the base renumbered to No 59 but now the number was on a raised platform, this modification to the base was the only casting variation to be found on the model and was probably done in 1968 when the Galaxie police car was replaced by the 55d Mercury police car, umlike the Galaxie police car the fire chief was kept in the range until 1970 when it was converted to superfast wheels, it was finally deleted in 1971.

It was sold in box types 'E' and 'F' and is a fairly common model, Apart from the red roof light model there are no other rare variations.
