PLEASE NOTE: I will no longer be altering the variation codes. All new discoveries will be inserted in to their correct place in the timeline and given a suffix.
So a new variation that would be nearest to variation 4 would become the new 4a, etc.

Moko Lesney Matchbox 22c Pontiac GP sports coupe

The Lesney model of Pontiac Grand Prix sports coupe joined the Matchbox 1-75 series in 1965 taking over from the popular 22b Vauxhall Cresta.
The Pontiac can be found in a darkish red or a much brighter orange red, It had a light grey plastic interior which included the tow hook as part of the moulding.
The baseplate was usually gloss black but flat black was used on the final issues, It can be found with or without a patent number and with or without tow guides,
The wheels were 10 x 36 black plastic on dome head axles with rounded ends and it had a clear plastic window unit without side windows due to the feature of opening doors,
The doors were originally held in place by a plastic spring which was part of the baseplate but later issues had a metal spring fitted instead. It had suspension to all four wheels by a plastic spring inside the baseplate and silver trim to the headlights and grille.

There were several casting variations to the body,
The roof can be found with or without a hole in the window unit and with or without a window locating stud in the roof interior.
The inside of the front bumper can have a thin or thick brace and it can have a towing guide cast in below the front license plate,
The door sills can be 1.5mm or 2mm high and the inside panels behind the doors can have a rounded upper edge, An angled upper edge which has a extra supporting brace added on to later issues.
There are no real rare variations but the orange red is much less common than the red version,
At the time of changeover to superfast wheels some red regular wheel bodies were fitted with superfast bases, This variation is very rare and very sought after too, I would guess the value to be somewhere around the 2000 mark but as it is a superfast it don't really fall into the era covered by this site,
Vectis have sold a number of pre production models in a variety of colours and white interiors, photographs are in the price guide gallery.
The Pontiac was sold in 'E' and 'F' type boxes, the E box is fairly common but the F box is rare and is valued at about 500 for a mint box. The model was converted to superfast wheels in 1970.
